Importance of Leadership – How it affects your Business

leadership 300x225 Importance of Leadership – How it affects your Business

If you have been in network marketing or have been considering network marketing for any amount of time, you more than likely have heard that leadership is crucial for success in your business.  However, unfortunately, there are thousands of network marketers out there who tell you all about the importance of leadership skills but don’t actually have any themselves and can’t tell you why it is so important.

So why is leadership so important in your network marketing business?

Well, first and foremost, let’s look at the definition of leadership.  According to Dictionary.com the definition of leadership is the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group and the ability to lead.

Simple, right?

Well, maybe not.  It’s easy to look at the definition and think, “Okay, I know what leadership is, what’s next?”  That can be a hazardous thing to do.

Leadership in any business is a crucial pillar in building a successful business, and is especially true for your network marketing business.  Leadership is the skill that you need for all aspects of your network marketing business.  Let me show you what I am talking about.

Leadership in Prospecting

Leadership while you are prospecting is key.  It ensures that you stay in control of the conversation.  Having leadership skills helps you keep your posture in check.  By showing your leadership skills while talking to a prospect forces that person to see you as a professional and an expert.  Without that, you are not offering this person any real reason to work with you. They are not going to see someone that will take the reins and show them how to build their business; they will see someone who is inexperienced and who simply wants to make money off of them.  Let me tell you, that is the quickest way to get a “no”.

Leadership in Helping Your New Teammates

I see it all the time, so many people start in network marketing but they give up within the first couple of months because they have no idea what to do or even where to start.  So, when you bring someone new into your team, it is very important to help them get off to a good, strong start and help them build a solid foundation for their business.  Without leadership skills, doing this is virtually impossible.  Your new teammates, first of all, need to have the confidence in you, that you can help them do this; otherwise it is going to be very hard to get them to take action.  They will have a hard time trusting your input, even if you know exactly what you are talking about.

Leadership in Leading Your Team

Leadership while leading your team just makes sense.  You have to have the skills to lead your team.  You need leadership skills to help you make and deliver a game plan for each of your teammates or help them do it for themselves.  Most likely, quite a few of them will rely on your input, thoughts and ideas to help them in their business for a while.  Even skilled and established network marketers continue to get advice from their leaders.  Leading your team includes motivating them, helping them set goals, accomplishing them, and so much more. Without leadership skills in this area, you more than likely will not have a plan of action.  Without a plan of action, everyone on your team will be wandering around aimlessly, without any sort of direction.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that lack of Leadership is a business killer on its own.  You and your team may make a little bit of money but it is going to be more stressful than it is worth, and you or your teammates will not have a high rate of retention on your team.  It seems downright impractical to think that without leadership skills, you can lead a team.

Leadership skills are so important in building and sustaining your network marketing business.  While it may seem like a daunting or even overwhelming thought to think that you have to have these leadership skills, especially if you are not a natural born leader, it really doesn’t have to be.  With the right leader and training, you can acquire leadership skills and all of the skills necessary to have an amazingly successful business.  The key is finding that leader or team to help you acquire those skills.

6 Key Tactics for the Small Business Owner

2271384 6 Key Tactics for the Small Business Owner
Marketing Strategy 300x208 6 Key Tactics for the Small Business OwnerFor most folks, owning your own business is a dream come true.  The freedom of being your own boss and succeeding to the best of your ability are facts of life for the small business owner.  Sure, there’s more stress than what you probably imagined when you were creating your grand plans, but with a little strategy and planning you can overcome any tough spot you get in.  There are 6 tactics developed by successful marketers that are sure to make your business as successful as theirs.

1. Create a One of a Kind Selling Point

If you want to stand out from the crowd, create a unique selling proposition that stresses the benefits the customers will receive from doing business with you.  Will they get faster service?  Go ahead and dramatize it, but keep the customer at the focus…”Get free overnight delivery!”  Hey, it tells the customer…you get quick service and a discount on shipping; Two definite benefits in one statement.

Why should someone buy from you and not your competitor?  I hate to deal a blow to your ego, but it really has nothing to do with you, your product, or your service.  Yeah, it’s a little self-centered, but customers are attracted by offers that point out the things that benefit THEM.

Don’t go out on a limb to create new products and services to get attention.  Just, add a special benefit to the ones you already have… maybe its quicker service.  The most effective things to emphasize are benefits that your competition cannot or is not willing to give.

2. Use Testimonials

Hey, we all know that business owners think their product or services are the best thing going, but it’s what the current customers think about it that really matters to your prospective customers.  They’re the ones who see things from their point of view; what they have to say about the business has an impact.

Testimonials play an important part in advertising – especially for small businesses.  Yeah, big businesses with well-known names don’t have to worry about it, but small companies can use testimonials as marketing tools to build credibility.

Think about it…how else can we gain credibility than by creating a group of satisfied customers and shouting what they have to say?  Let’s look at some ways we can make testimonials an effective part of our marketing campaigns.

3. Up Sell

Up Selling is one of the most successful marketing trends today.  Everywhere you go, someone is trying to get you to buy more.  From McDonalds with its supersize options to clothing stores that try to sell you shoes to match your outfit, everyone’s jumping on the band wagon.  Why?  It works!

Your customers already know that you have great products and provide satisfactory service.  They trust you to come through for them.  Think about it…  it’s much easier to make sales to someone you already have a relationship with.

Use every opportunity to increase your sales volume within the customer audience you already have.  Do you have a product that goes with the one they are purchasing?  Offer it to them at the register.  It’s a proven and effective method for increasing sales.  You may be shocked at the additional sales you can generate from those who are already buying from you.

4.  Make Your Price Seem Smaller

Divide and conquer…  The old war tactic works in marketing too!  When the price seems too steep, break it down into “buyable” size bites.  A $120 item is only 12 low monthly payments of $10.  A $365 purchase would only cost $1 per day.  Now that sounds affordable!

5.  Create Attention Getting Headlines

Are you ready to capture your reader’s attention with great copy?  The headline is the place to start.  How often do you scan the newspaper’s headlines before you decide whether or not to read the article?  Yeah, that’s where we lose or gain the reader’s interest, so it’s a pretty important part of the advertisement.

A good headline should telegraph its message in twelve words or less. Double check those headlines.  Do they make a promise of a positive benefit, or ask a provocative question? Don’t settle for less than attention grabbing statements.

6.  Provide an Offer They Can’t Resist

Is your deal too good to pass up?  If not, you need to improve it.  Hey, I’m not talking about cutting prices even more…you’ve still got to make a profit.  You can make the deal sweeter just by increasing the readers’ knowledge of the value of the product, or adding bonuses that are perceived as valuable, but cost you little.

Motivate buyers with expirations.  An open ended offer encourages procrastination…which leads … nowhere.  When the customer knows he has until Saturday to purchase an item he’ll pay more for on Sunday, he’ll make it a priority to buy.

Secrets to get People to Take Action after your Presentation

Getting Things Done 300x218 Secrets to get People to Take Action after your Presentation

How can you increase the likelihood that people will take action after your presentation? I am going to reveal many of the secrets to get your client to take action after your presentation.

1. Script the critical move

Tell people exactly what you want them do. An experiment was done on school students in Miner County, South Dakota where the town wanted to revive the local economy. The students worked out that if residents spent more of their money locally it would make a big difference. But they didn’t just say “Buy Local”, they scripted the critical move. They asked residents to spend 10% more of their disposable income in Miner County. They calculated that this would boost the local economy by $7 million. A year later, the amount of money spent in Miner County had increased by $15.6 million.

So in your presentation don’t just use a clever slogan. Be clear and specific about what you want members of your audience to do.

2. Give explicit instructions

An experiment on encouraging university students to take part in a food drive for charity showed that giving explicit instructions can give a tremendous boost to the response rate. One group of students received a letter asking them to give a can of food to a booth on Tresidder Plaza (a well-known spot on the campus). A second group of students received a more detailed letter including a map and a specific request for a can of beans. 4% responded to the general letter whilst just over 33% gave food after receiving the detailed letter.

In your presentations, take people through the detailed steps they’ll need to take and give them all the information they need to carry through in a handout.

3. Get them to imagine what they will do

If you’re asking people to take some action which only they know the details of, it won’t be practical for you to give explicit instructions. Instead get them to work out the details. Believe me, I have heard plenty of talks on forgiveness, but not one like this…The speaker challenged us to pick a specific person and put into practice what we had learned.

4. Develop action triggers

People who create action triggers for themselves are far more likely to take action. An action trigger is a mental plan you make about when and where you will do something or what you will do in a certain situation. For example, patients recovering from a hip operation who wrote down when and where they would go for a walk were much more likely to carry through on that decision then patient’s who just decided they would go for a walk.

Don’t just ask people to do something, get them to make a mental plan of when and where they will do it.

5. Appeal to their identity

People don’t do things simply because it’s in their self-interest, but because the action conforms to their view of themselves. Talk to your audience as if they are the type of people who do what you want them to do. For example “As people who love this community and want to see young families flourishing here, you’ll want to donate to refurbishment of this playground.”

6. Set up an accountability mechanism

Sharing a commitment to take action is powerful. There are a number of ways you can set this up for a presentation. You could ask people to pair up with another person and commit to keeping each other accountable. Or you could ask audience members to email you by a certain date with the action they’ve taken.

What tips do you have for motivating people to take action after your presentation?

Just because one thing is not working for you that does not mean that it is not right, if others have found success in that process you are perfectly capable of doing it too; and if still not possible then try something else. That should be the motto for every marketer.

Persistence with Network Marketing

Mindset2 Persistence with Network Marketing

Being a Network Marketer is not without certain inherent failures which plague the correct tracking of the marketers’ performance and thus denying the fruits of his/her labor in promoting and transferring quality traffic to the advertiser’s website.

Persistence with Network Marketing

Inherent problems of Marketing sites?

A number of reasons chief among them are the inability to track the performance of the prospect after she/he leaves the website is main among them. Another problem is anonymous webs browsing patterns of users.

Anonymous Web browsing and the problems that they offer to publishers.

As a network marketer it is a very disturbing thing that a majority of the web browsers and other software that is used to browse the web allows anonymous browsing. They are designed in a way so that publishers cannot identify or intrude into the privacy of the surfer. Bots, auto installing software etc. if implemented an easily get a website into trouble by getting itself banned by the major search engines and browsers.

In this scenario when consumer privacy is a major issue, publishers and affiliates have to be very careful how they plan their marketing tactics to promote the advertisers products and services.

Cookies are the only great solution in this regard as they are allowed by most normal privacy settings of browsers and are although sometimes flagged as security alerts and red flagged by some anti- virus software they are universally accepted as a standard of handling user experiences on websites.

Most websites will not even function and explicitly ask you to enable your browser to accept cookies before allowing you to use it. Cookies are mainly of two types; persistent and temporary cookies.

Temporary cookies are usually used for managing the user experience on the website like navigation, page history etc. they may also be used for storing shopping carts etc when browsing an e-commerce website. They are usually destroyed or cleaned when you close the browser.

On the other hand persistent cookies are used to store information such as login preference and login credentials to remember a user and log him back in without manually typing the credentials again. Such cookies are stored as small text files on the computer of the user.

If you clean your browser cache and history you are likely to destroy all persistent cookies and reset your browsing history and preferences for any website that you may have saved previously.

Landing pages are the ones where the referral traffic or the potential customer goes to from the referring Marketers website. This could be a home page or a page deep inside the advertiser’s website containing the desired call to action. How does the hop-linking works? Just like any http linking on the web, hop-linking is essentially a link as well.

However the beauty in this is that hop-links directly does not link to the advertiser’s website..

The hop-link server identifies the referring marketers id and also the advertiser’s website and makes a record of the same and then redirects you to the advertiser’s website.

The new hop-linking system also overcomes a number of security loopholes and now it is difficult to do a click fraud when the new system is in place.

Persistence with Network Marketing

For the most part any marketing effort requires patience and a smart plan for marketing the products and services of the advertiser. It does not have to be too different to a normal offline marketing plan but online marketing certainly has its own advantages and disadvantages.

However in order to succeed you need a plan.

One particular user from Florida who has been a Network Marketer and has been marketing articles for a while says that he started off with very bad response for the first few months. In fact he almost thought about quitting online marketing saying that this is worse than betting.

However he got a brilliant idea from a friend who is also a network marketer  and started a new approach. He first chose a standard topic that he felt covers a product and then wrote a few small articles which were reviews of the product in a very subjective and critical approach. Next he submitted those articles on to an ezine and waited for the articles to be indexed.

Once they were indexed these articles were picked up in search results and other users who are looking for relevant content started visiting and using those articles on their website with credit to him.

These helped in getting a sizeable amount of traffic back to his link. A few weeks into his experiment, he started getting up to 5 times more leads and an increased conversion from those leads.

Having got the results that he once though is not possible, he started writing additional articles for the product he was promoting and that maximized the results dramatically. The good thing about writing articles and submitting them to ezines is they not only give you results in the short run but also on the long run as these articles are files for posterity and will come up in search whenever someone is searching for something relevant to it.

Why the mindset is important

When you were not getting good grades in school your teacher would have said to you invariably to not quit trying. Persistence pays was probably what you have heard at school and at home and that is so true with most things in life.

So many marketers have fled at the first sign of trouble when they cannot crack the jigsaw puzzle called marketing success. But the ones who end up having the last laugh are the ones who never quit and marches on till the end.

Just because one thing is not working for you that does not mean that it is not right, if others have found success in that process you are perfectly capable of doing it too; and if still not possible then try something else. That should be the motto for every marketer.

How To Use Facebook Sponsored Stories

Facebook How To Use Facebook Sponsored Stories

When thinking of Facebook Marketing, you might think about engaging with fans on your Facebook Wall; Or about advertising through standard Facebook Ads; Or about making special offers to your fans.

Well, there’s also a marketing vehicle on Facebook called Sponsored Stories that can provide your business with a crazy good marketing boost. Sponsored Stories are unique from other forms of Facebook marketing, in that they are leveraging the positive mentions and buzz already taking place by your audience.

In other words, people are already talking about your brand. Sponsored Stories enables you to leverage this by distributing their comments and publicizing their actions more broadly.

Heck, if one person is saying that your brand ROCKS, why not let others know??

When a person engages with your Business Page, App or Place Page, the comments appear in the news feed of the person’s friends anyway. Due to the dynamic nature of the news feed, though, the majority of friends may never see the comments. Sponsored Stories increases the likelihood that they will see it by placing the comments in the right-side of the page (the Sponsored Story ads are 240 pixels wide) for longer periods of time.

There is the question of whether you feel comfortable using your fans’ comments and actions as what amounts to “advertising copy” for your business. Of course, many businesses already use customer testimonials in their marketing, so it’s actually not such a stretch from what you might be doing today. And these comments are already being distributed in the regular news feed to one’s friends. You are simply “republishing them.”

However, just be aware that some people have an issue with this type of marketing, even though customer testimonials have long been a part of standard marketing practices. The main reason is that customer testimonials typically involve a confirmation process with the customer prior to the actual usage, whereas Sponsored Stories do not. It’s up to you and your business to decide if Sponsored Stories is right for you, or if this type of usage of customer activity just doesn’t feel right.

Page “Like” Story

When someone “Likes” your Facebook Page, you can let others know through Sponsored Stories. The ad includes a “Like” icon so that their friends can click and “Like” your Page right from the ad itself. Read the rest of this entry
