Psychological Benefits of a Healthy Diet

The foods you eat can affect how your brain functions, and can alter both your mood and behavior, according to the Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders or EMD. When you are hungry you may become short-tempered or impatient. Eating a satisfying meal can leave you feeling relaxed and content. When your brain is deprived of proper vitamins, minerals and other nutrients such as protein, your problem-solving abilities may wane and you may experience memory lapses. Eating a healthy diet has a number of psychological benefits.

Promotes Brain Health

Certain foods that are part of a nutritionally balanced diet seem to protect brain cells and may lower the risk of stroke and heart disease, reports the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dark-skinned vegetables and fruits typically contain large amounts of antioxidants. Examples include broccoli, beets, spinach, kale, onion, red bell pepper, blueberries, blackberries, oranges, red grapes, prunes and raisins.

Other brain-healthy foods include omega-3 rich fish such as halibut, salmon and tuna. Certain nuts such almonds, pecans and walnuts support proper brain function due to their high vitamin E content.

Reduces Anxiety

A healthy diet can make you feel better and may help diminish anxiety, according to the Mayo Clinic. Increasing your intake of complex carbohydrates such as whole grains may boost serotonin levels in your brain, which can help calm your nerves. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the brain that affects sleep, mood and memory.

Helps Ward off Depression

Eating healthy meals can have a positive impact on your mood. In fact, a well-balanced diet can reduce stress and help prevent depression when it’s accompanied with adequate sleep and relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga, notes the University of Michigan Health System, or UMHS.

Feelings of depression can range from mild to severe. If you have been feeling down for more than two weeks, talk to your health care provider. You may be suffering from clinical depression, and may require medications or therapy.

Relieves PMS Symptoms

A healthy diet that limits the amount of salt, sugar and caffeine may help diminish the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, PMS. Approximately one-third of pre-menopausal women suffer from PMS, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The psychological symptoms of PMS may include anxiety, irritability, moodiness, aggression and problems concentrating.

List Building ~ That #1 Question Everyone Has

“List Building” Putting Your Opt-in List Building Into Overdrive

“The Money is in the List!”

If you had a dollar for every time you’ve heard that said, well, you’d already have your fortune.

th listbuilding125 List Building ~ That #1 Question Everyone HasWithout a list of responsive customers, you are not going to be very successful in online marketing.

If you’ve been involved in internet marketing for any length of time, you should already be aware of the importance of  list     building.

For those of you who are new to internet marketing, you should be aware of this also, but if you have not heard the phrase “The Money’s In The List!!”, then you need to wake up!

Do I Need a List?

I have been asked this question time and time again and each time I answer it I shout it out louder and louder…Simple Answer… Yes!

  • Builds loyalty and repeat business
  • Quickest and most direct method of communication
  • Immediate, repeatable and measurable results
  • Easy and not a lot of tech skills required
  • Helps turn leads into customers
  • Very affordable
  • Positions you as an expert

Elements of List Building

There are really only about 10 different elements to list building.  Some of these elements we have discussed in previous chapters and others we will go more into depth as we get into other chapters  yet to come such as getting targeted traffic which will be revealed in the Next chapter of this book.

1. Identify your market.

2. Identify their problem.

3. Get Domain & Hosting.

4. Set up simple website.

5. Create free irresistible offer.

6. Set up follow-up message series. (Autoresponder)

7. Get targeted traffic.

8. Let them know how you can solve their problem.

9. Ask for the appropriate action.

10. Build relationships.

Is the size of my list Important?

YES and NO…

The answer really depends on how well you manage the size of the list you have.

What should you be looking for?

  • Quality- Very specific & targeted list of opt-ins with well-built relationship between list owner and opt-in.
  • Quantity- Number of Qualified targeted opt-ins with well-built relationship between list owner and opt-in.

Personally I am looking for both, and so should you!

When you are building a list it is all about quality and not quantity.  Sure, you can send out a newsletter every day, but soon people are simply going to begin deleting your emails.  This is because they are being solicited every day and they get tired of that very quickly.  What you accomplish by doing this is you create a list that is unresponsive and that is not how you are going to make any money.  Plus, you will eventually have a list with no emails on it!

The key is responsiveness.  It is much better to have a list that has 2,000 responsive customers than a list with 20,000 names and no responses.  Once you begin building your list, you will

How Do I Turn My LEADS Into Responsive Buyers?

The Three Most Important Things

  • Relationships

It is all about building relationships when it comes to being successful with your lists. You have to learn how to gain their trust.  Your customers signed up to your list and are looking to get emails from you that have to deal with the specifics of what they came looking for in the first place.  Now you may not think that they are looking to find out anything more from you than just what they came for.  Trust me when I say that they will still want more.

You need to deliver to them the, what comes next to help them solve their problem.  By doing so you will begin to build a very important relationship built on trust.  When you are providing good relevant useful content your customers will make room for your emails in their inbox overtop of the others that your competition is sending out.

In building relationships it is important to inject confidence with your subscribers,

  • Create confidence in the viewer’s eyes by supplying them with your credentials, letting them know your background, and what I feel is most important, thru your heartfelt story.
  • Go in depth on who you are and why you are doing what you are doing
  • Be sincere in your message.  Most of your subscribers will be able to see right thru anything that is less than complete sincerity on your part.

You want your list to KNOW YOU, LIKE YOU, TRUST YOU.

Here is my absolute number one secret….  The one thing I want you to take away with you right now if you choose to walk away right now.

You can’t build a relationship with a list.  A list is built of individuals who opt-in to your list.  Relationships are for those individuals….  Relationships are for people.

  • Over-deliver

If you are able to meet the people who are interested in your website and what you have to offer, then you will be able to provide a service or product that people need or want.  It is said that people come to the Internet for one of two things – information and to shop.  If you can provide both, then you are going to have a very useful site!  Invest your time and money in providing excellent service, products and information.  If you do this, then people are going to be interested in learning more about you and sign up on your list.

Now I said you need to over-deliver was needed to create a responsive buyer on your list so let’s go beyond just what is needed and the fluff.

I did not begin writing this Post with the intention of delivering just a bunch of hype and fluff and if you are to succeed you better come expecting to deliver high value to your subscribers.

Not only giving them what they came looking for but going the extra mile and delivering more than they could have ever expected out of you.

It is delivering the surprise element to those that signed up to your already high valued content.  You take them to the point that they can’t imagine it can get any better and then you deliver exactly that.  You deliver what they could not even imagine you delivering.  It is called the,  “WOW EFFECT!”

Make sure that you always give value to your subscribers. Over-deliver at every opportunity.

One of the “discovery factors” is surprise.  Let the customer discover some of the value you are offering.  Don’t just give them everything all at once.  Let them discover that you are more than they could have ever expected.

Surprise them with more value than they even knew they were going to get from you.

Deliver more than your customers expect.  Generally, you simply need to provide great service and/or product to your customers.  But to give you another edge to win, you need to deliver more than your customers expect.

  • Stay in contact

Once you have someone on your list you need to do whatever you can to staying touch with them to keep your business fresh in their mind and allow you the opportunity to offer them additional products and services for another revenue stream.

Maintain a lot of real customer contact on a regular basis.

With autoresponders and other tools to automate online businesses, this has never been easier.

Try setting up a good teleseminar or webinar and offer some good useful content that will help solve a problem that your customer is having.

Good non-promotional emails offering good relevant free tips to help them solve their problems

Once again I will drive home the point that you need to have consistency.  Have a regular, consistent schedule that gets people expecting your email.

Now it is going to be important for you to know what your target audience is used to already.  In the Internet Marketing, make money online Niche it will be vitally important for you to be aggressive in staying in touch and keeping your name or brand in front of your audience.

In other Niches you will find that if you are too aggressive you will turn off your audience due to them receiving more emails than they may be normally used to receiving on a content basis.

You will have to research your Niche to find out what seems to be acceptable to your target audience.

A great way to go about doing this is to get on the list of others in your Niche and begin to document the practices of the list owners.

Most will have successfully accomplished the task of figuring out what is acceptable to their own lists.

I you do not keep in contact you will be forgotten very quickly.

Think about your own experience when going into your own email.  Do you look for those that regularly keep in contact and continually provide value to you?  What happens if you are used to seeing emails from someone and all of the sudden they stop.  You may wonder what is up for a time, but do you start hounding the person to start sending emails again?  Usually not, you just move on to the next.

If you are not going to stay in contact you will not have to even wonder if the competition is.  Trust me they will have no problem keeping in contact with those you wish to desert.

Product Format

Research the current market to help you decide what format would be best for you to use in delivering your solutions to the market that is in need.

There are several formats you can use to deliver your focused message.

You may use audio files, eBooks, video, webinars, teleseminars, physical conferencing, etc.

As you do your research pay attention to what is being used right now.

Ask yourself if you have the capabilities to deliver in the same formats and also in other formats that are not being used.

Be careful when deciding upon using a method that is not being used currently in the market place.

It is quite possible that the method not being used is not being used for a very good reason.  Possibly the formats being used are not accepted by the market.

If a method is not being used ask yourself why.  If you do not know what the answer to that question is then it is time to do some research.

It is possible that the Niche you are in just does not know about any other formats and you will be able to rise above your competition.

If the Niche you have chosen is relying heavily on delivering content by the use of ebooks then maybe this is a great time to introduce video into your Niche

Develop a Focused Sub Niche

Look into developing an even more focused sub-niche as a means of expanding your customer base.

Break Down Main Niches into Sub-Niches

Example

Guitar” gives about 267,000,000 results.

Guitar may have a very large amount of competition and possibly have a very saturated market.

Also those searching for the keyword guitar are probably really not sure what it is that they are really looking for at this point.

They are just beginning their search.

Their child may have approached them and said something like, “can I get a guitar?”   So now Mom and Dad begin to search for something they may know nothing about.

Electric Guitar” gives about 15,000,000 results.

“Acoustic Guitar” gives about 14,100,000 results.

“Beginner Acoustic Guitar” gives about 37,500 results.

“Beginner Acoustic Guitar Lessons” gives about 6,690 results.

“Learn how to play acoustic guitar by ear” gives about 1,100 results.

As you can see, by breaking the broad term keyword “Guitar” down into sub-niches, you can find a more targeted niche to work with.

After searching for the word guitar with no real results that solved the problem of buying the child  a guitar, the same Mom and Dad ask their child questions like, “which kind of guitar are you wanting to play?  We are finding Electric and acoustic guitars which one sounds like more fun to you?”

Also knowing their son or daughter will need lessons they begin the search for lessons to go along with the new guitar.

As they search, their keywords they are using will turn into keyword phrases that will be more focused upon what they are searching for.

Soon they are typing in exactly what it is that they are searching for and you want to be right there to meet them at the search bar!

Your Unique Selling Proposition

Stand out above the crowd as something different than everyone else is offering.

One of the biggest and most harmful mistakes most people getting started online make is not showing their target market what makes them unique and not positioning themselves as the best choice in the market over all the rest of the competition.

You will find that there are many markets that are very competitive and it is very important that you come through shining with what makes you different than everyone else. If you are going to be like the majority of people trying to get started online, and failing miserably by using the “same as everyone else” type of marketing you will find you will quickly be joining the majority that try and fail. Your online and even offline business absolutely positively has to have a USP that you can show your potential customers by helping them cut through all of the clutter going on right now.  This separates you from the competition, and positions you as the best choice… the ONLY choice and this is what you must be seen as if you are to succeed and have a long lasting online business.

As you can imagine already, building your USP takes some effort, but it is a must and you will find that it was absolutely worth every one of your efforts to create it because of the added advantage you’ll have over your competition. Coming up with a strong and powerful USP will make your job of marketing and selling much easier, and will enable you to easily increase your online presence and sales.

One of the best examples of a great USP is the USP of Federal Express. Federal Express is able to dominate in the package delivering business because of their USP. “Federal Express: When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.”

They identified a problem and came up with a solution that was unique over the rest of the competition in their market.

They knew that there were people who needed to get things shipped out and delivered overnight, and that there were not any competitive companies with the promise or guarantee of overnight delivery.

Solution:  Give the guarantee which also removed the risk of using their company.

What can you offer that you see the competition lacking in.  Maybe it is something as simple as offering top notch customer support, Offering Video tutorials in a Niche that only delivers information through Ebooks, using webinar services to deliver your content, or one on one coaching.

Research your competition and see what kind of holes are being unfilled and you, fill them up!

Questions to ask yourself when trying to figure out your USP are as follows:

  1. Will my perspective customers perceive my USP as an advantage to going and buying from the competition?
  2. Is my USP I am using, too significantly different from what my competitors are offering?
  3. Do I feel my prospective customers will actually believe in this USP? Put yourself in their place!
  4. How will my customers benefit from this USP?  You must find an important benefit unique to your product or service.  You must identify the main advantage your product offers over the competition.
  5. Will this USP motivate customers sufficiently to actually make a purchase?   Will they see that you have done your job in adapting to their needs, is your offer, innovative, does it add more value to their life, does it deliver beyond the customer’s expectations and will the customer see a significant return on their investment?

I really hope that my followers and business colleagues are starting to see the value in this information! I feel that it is by far the most      relevant information to use in today’s online & offline Marketing. Again, Enjoy!
